What is 00 Flour? Best Flour for Homemade Pizza Dough | B(R)OIL BITES


Now you may or may not have heard of
00 flour. Like semolina flour with pasta, 00 flour is a
specialty Italian flour used for baking pizza dough. We actually tried making
pizza crusts with the 00, bread flour, and all-purpose flours, and you can get all scientific with protein content and water absorption blah blah blah. But what
actually matters is the result. And what we found out was that the 00
flour gave us the best crust texture and taste out of the three. If you can’t find
it, the bread flour was a very close second, but steer clear of the
all-purpose flour. We got a nice bubbly crust with both the 00
and bread flour, but the all-purpose flour gave us a weird,
blobby kind of mess. It kind of tasted like what you get when you have those
pre-made pizza packets you get at the store. Hey guys thank you so much for watching

  1. I would have appreciated a more scientific approach and explanation why 00 is the best. We all know 00 is the best for pizza that is why every chef uses it. My question is why? What makes it so good?
